FLAT AND FAST!
Yes, you can set a PR in Cincinnati! The
Cincinnati Marathon features a flat and fast course.
Starting at the intersection of E. Pete Rose Way and
Eggleston, runners wind their way along the Ohio River, past the
Bengals' and Reds' stadiums. After a loop around the historic
Longworth Building on W. Pete Rose Way, the course goes back to the
Reds' Stadium and then climbs into downtown via Race St.
Once at 5th St. the course goes through the heart of Downtown, past
world famous Fountain Square (remember the intro to WKRP Cincinnati?),
to Riverside Drive. The bulk of our course is on Riverside Drive,
paralleling the Ohio River. Then join fellow competitors, family and
friends for a gala finish celebration!
WALK DIVISION
The Cincinnati Half Marathon is a walk friendly
race. Course cut off times of 4 hours leave plenty of time
for all walkers and runners to complete the course.
The Walk Division is for walkers only. (Note
if you enter the Cincinnati Half Marathon you may
walk or run or any combination thereof). If you are unsure whether
you are a walker then you should enter the Half Marathon so that you
have the option of running should you wish to do so.
If you enter the Walk division of the Cincinnati
Half Marathon you will be scored as a walker and agree that you will
complete the Cincinnati Half Marathon by walking. Running any
portion of the race is prohibited.
Walkers entered in the Half Marathon Walk will start
2 minutes after the run has started.
The walk division can be entered via active.com.
Please make sure you check the Half Marathon Walk as you start your
entry process. Changes from the run to the walk division will NOT
be made after the event has started.
The Cincinnati Half Marathon course will be closed
at a rate of 20 minutes per mile. For example, it you do not
complete 3 miles in under 1 hour (6 miles in 2 hours, etc.) then you
will be asked to leave the course and informed that no more support will
be provided.

AWARDS
Age
Group awards will be given in 5 year age divisions for the 5K, Half
Marathon Walk and Half Marathon Run.
Divisional (age group) awards are based on TAG time and
are presented three deep in five year incremental age divisions, both
male and female.
Finisher awards will go to all runners
who complete the course in under 4 hours and all walkers who complete
the course in under 4 hours. Finisher awards are not given for the
5K.
COURSE CLOSURE
We will be doing a
rolling closure based on a 4 hour finish time. If you are not on a
4 hour pace and you wish to continue the race you will be asked to get
on sidewalk.
IPODS AND AUDIO DEVICES
The Cincinnati Half Marathon discourages the use
of personal music devices. Not only are they a danger to the
athlete wearing them but they are also dangerous to those around
that athlete. If wearing an audio device results in you being
unable to hear verbal instructions or commands, or approaching
vehicles or course marshals on bicycles, you may be asked to
relinquish the device or cease running. That being said, the
Cincinnati Half Marathon recognizes the futility of trying to
prevent personal music devices and will not outright ban them.
Please take responsibility and use good judgment if you opt to wear
an audio device.
