INTRODUCING NO FRILLS RACING!

WHAT IS NO FRILLS RACING?

Our goal is simple.  To put on a quality race where you can PR on a USATF certified course.

No frills racing means that we have lowered our entry fees to rock bottom to make the race more affordable.  No frills racing DOES NOT mean that the quality of the race will suffer.  The Cincinnati Half Marathon will still be a USATF certified course, will still have tons of volunteers, will still have beer and a band at the finish line, will still have lots of portapotties,  will still have top quality finisher's medals and will still be a ton of fun.

No frills racing means that we will not fill up a goody bag with junk that you throw away when you get home.  No frills racing means that we will not have bands  on the course (afterall, you are there to race, not relax and listen to music).  No frills racing means that we do not offer elite or masters prize money.  No frills racing means that you don't have to buy a tshirt unless you want to (why not save money instead of another shirt to wash the car with). No frills racing means the entry fee is lower than 2011 - even if you buy a shirt.  No frills racing means that the tshirt you buy with your entry will be a top quality tech shirt with women's specific sizes.

Simply put, we want to focus our resources on a top quality race experience and pass the savings on to you.

WHAT IS THAT TSHIRT POLICY AGAIN?

When you enter the Cincinnati Half Marathon, you do not automatically get a tshirt with your entry.  You must purchase the Tshirt separately.  Note that the 2012 entry fee plus the Tshirt is still less expensive than 2011.  We are passing the savings on to you by only supplying shirts to those that want them.  If you forget to order a Tshirt with your entry, or change your mind and want a shirt, you can order a shirt from the CHM ONLINE STORE at any time.  After October 1, Tshirts will only be available from the CHM ONLINE STORE and may not be purchased with your entry.

CHM ONLINE STORE

The CHM ONLINE STORE is opportunity for you to buy high quality gear at prices much lower than you can find at other retailers.   Whatever you order will be shipped to you without charge.  CLICK HERE to go to the CHM ONLINE STORE.

After October 1, Tshirts will only be available from the CHM ONLINE STORE.  All Tshirts ordered from the CHM ONLINE STORE will be shipped to you, without charge, after the Cincinnati Half Marathon on October 20, 2012.

FLAT AND FAST!

Yes, you can set a PR in Cincinnati!  The Cincinnati Marathon features a flat and fast course.

Starting at the intersection of E. Pete Rose Way and Eggleston, runners wind their way along the Ohio River, past the Bengals' and Reds' stadiums.  After a loop around the historic Longworth Building on W. Pete Rose Way, the course goes back to the Reds' Stadium and then climbs into downtown via Race St.  Once at 5th St. the course goes through the heart of Downtown, past world famous Fountain Square (remember the intro to WKRP Cincinnati?), to Riverside Drive.  The bulk of our course is on Riverside Drive, paralleling the Ohio River.  Then join fellow competitors, family and friends for a gala finish celebration!

WALK DIVISION

The Cincinnati Half Marathon is a walk friendly race.   Course cut off times of 4 hours leave plenty of time for all walkers and runners to complete the course.

The Walk Division is for walkers only.  (Note if you enter the Cincinnati Half Marathon you may walk or run or any combination thereof).  If you are unsure whether you are a walker then you should enter the Half Marathon so that you have the option of running should you wish to do so.

If you enter the Walk division of the Cincinnati Half Marathon you will be scored as a walker and agree that you will complete the Cincinnati Half Marathon by walking.  Running any portion of the race is prohibited.

Walkers entered in the Half Marathon Walk will start 2 minutes after the run has started.

The walk division can be entered via active.com.  Please make sure you check the Half Marathon Walk as you start your entry process.  Changes from the run to the walk division will NOT be made after the event has started.

AWARDS

Age Group awards will be given in 5 year age divisions for the 5K, Half Marathon Walk and Half Marathon Run.

Divisional (age group) awards are based on TAG time and are presented three deep in five year incremental age divisions, both male and female.

Finisher awards will go to all runners who complete the course in under 4 hours and all walkers who complete the course in under 4 hours. Beat the Pumpkin Certificates will be awarded to all 5K participants who beat the Pumpkin

COURSE CLOSURE

We will be doing a rolling closure based on a 4 hour finish time.  If you are not on a 4 hour pace and you wish to continue the race you will be asked to get on sidewalk.

IPODS AND AUDIO DEVICES

The Cincinnati Half Marathon discourages the use of personal music devices.  Not only are they a danger to the athlete wearing them but they are also dangerous to those around that athlete.  If wearing an audio device results in you being unable to hear verbal instructions or commands, or approaching vehicles or course marshals on bicycles, you may be asked to relinquish the device or cease running.  That being said, the Cincinnati Half Marathon recognizes the futility of trying to prevent personal music devices and will not outright ban them.  Please take responsibility and use good judgment if you opt to wear an audio device.

ENTRY FEES

Entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. Once we accept your entry, you will not receive a refund if you cannot participate. You may not give or sell your number to anyone else.  Due to the extraordinary cost of putting on the half marathon, and per similar policies at all running races, this policy will apply to all entrants and is in effect whether you are injured, have an unexpected family/business emergency, have a medical emergency, etc. There are no exceptions.

PARKING

There is ample parking throughout downtown Cincinnati.  The Sawyer Point lot will be open at 5:30am and remain open until 6:30am. Parking at the Sawyer Point lot is $3 on race day.  In addition to the Sawyer Point lot, surrounding parking lots will open at 6:30am.  The charge to park in those lots is $5.  If you do not wish to pay for parking there is ample parking throughout downtown Cincinnati within a short jog of the start line.

T-SHIRT/REFUND POLICY

Entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. Once we accept your entry, you will not receive a refund if you cannot participate. You may not give or sell your number to anyone else.  Due to the extraordinary cost of putting on the half marathon, and per similar policies at all running races, this policy will apply to all entrants and is in effect whether you are injured, have an unexpected family/business emergency, have a medical emergency, etc. There are no exceptions.

Because we are offering technical shirts, you must enter by October 1 to purchase a shirt with your entry. If you wish a women's size we will order you the size indicated on your entry.  Again, to get a shirt with your entry you must enter by October 1.  After October 1 you can still get a race tshirt but it must be ordered through the CHM ONLINE STORE.
