The Office of the Provost and Human Resources will offer Leadership Refreshers on July 22 and 23. This series was designed to share updates, address common questions, and prepare for the upcoming academic year. New Faculty Orientation
August 1-14, 2025
All new faculty are encouraged to attend a series of orientation events scheduled to familiarize them with ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï policies and procedures and the ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï community. Sessions will also include resources for teaching, research, and service, all to help new faculty find success in their first year at ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï.

Plan, Prepare, and Engage
August 5-8, 2025
Plan, Prepare, and Engage is a pre-semester hybrid and virtual workshop series for new and veteran faculty and staff at Southern Miss. Faculty, staff, and campus partners have joined forces to offer several workshops of interest as you prepare for the fall semester.

Fall First Week
August 11-15, 2025
The Seventh Annual Fall First Week provides time for colleges and schools to meet, engage with campus resources, and learn from one another’s expertise as we prepare for the academic year ahead.
Fall First Week will house all professional development sessions in a half-day Educators’ Retreat on Wednesday, August 13th. The Center for Faculty Development also will host workshops from August 5th to August 8th in our Prepare, Plan, and Engage series that will include sessions focused on strategies, tools, and innovative ideas that will help guide your preparation for your fall courses.

Fall 2025 Educator's Retreat

The Fall 2023 Educators’ Retreat will bring together faculty, administrators, and staff to discuss strategies for effectively implementing generative artificial intelligence (AI) technologies at Southern Miss. The goal of the event is to help educators at all levels harness the power of generative AI to enhance student learning, research productivity, and job performance.
